He has begun several non-profit and for-profit enterprises including schools, orphan centers, manufacturing firms, and development companies. He also co-founded Freedom, Wealth and Poverty, a Seattle based forum of businessmen and women who are interested in encouraging successful business owners and senior level executives to reach out to the poor.

His latest venture – an attempt to break the trans-Atlantic record for a commercial crossing – will be an attempt to raise money and awareness in the fight to end malaria.

He lives in the greater Seattle area and has been married to Merle for 40 years and had four children and ten grandchildren.
